An 18th century oil on canvas painting on board in the style of Italian master Sebastiano Conca (Baroque, 18th century) appearing to depict St. John the Baptist and Elizabeth baptizing Baby Jesus with Mother Mary. Possibly a sketch for a larger painting based on its soft impressionistic style. Last origin was Chicagoland area and prior owner indicated it was purchased from a downtown Chicago gallery in the 1970s. Brilliant colors under sunlight with numerous blemished consisting of small loss, grime, prior tears and rising and rippling due to adherence on board. An individual is truncated on lower right side; very difficult to see so painting may have been shortened at one time or is hidden under frame. Contemporary brown paper on back of frame and not examined under paper.
