Oil on Wood Board
11 1/2 x 15 1/2 x 1/8 inches
Signed W.F. Hardy lower right

William F. Hardy (1877 – 1933) painted Barbizon style landscapes in St. Louis and southern Illinois at the turn of the 20th century. Paint is well-adhered to board and board is flat. Some loss as pictured and most significant is vertical loss in lower right quadrant. This board may have been used as a sketch backing at one time based on the two brackets on the back. A fantastic tonalistic river landscape with a fisherman by the shore.
